Best Harris Dickinson Movies, Ranked

English actor Harris Dickinson has been busy in the past year, landing roles in high-profile movies like Where the Crawdads Sing and even the dark comedy Triangle of Sadness. The 26-year-old actor was born in London and almost considered quitting acting after dropping out of school. He did not join the Royal Marines as planned and landed his first big acting gig in 2016 when he was 20 (per Vogue). He was cast in Eliza Hittman’s Beach Rats, which was his first movie role, and the movie did well among domestic film festivals in the United States.

Dickinson was cast in several television shows leading up to that point, but Beach Rats put him initially on the map, as he was nominated for a Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead. Dickinson’s career only continued to climb from there. He landed a BAFTA nomination for his role in The King’s Man, then gained even more acclaim after his appearance in 2022’s Triangle of Sadness. Dickinson will appear in the upcoming movie The Iron Claw with Zac Efron and Lily James (via i-D), and in Steve McQueen’s Blitz. These are his best movies so far, ranked.

Marv Studios

Matthew Vaughn directed the 2021 movie The King’s Man, which was the third installment in the Kingsman series. Based on a comic book and considered to be a prequel, The King’s Man takes place in the early-1900s. Orlando, the Duke of Oxford, has promised his dead wife that he would never allow his son to see the face of war, but as it turns out, his son really wants to serve in the war and is willing to trick his father to do so. Orlando has a spy network across the world, which proves itself to be useful as World War I escalates in Europe. Dickinson portrays Orlando’s rebellious son Conrad.

5/6 Postcards from London

Postcards from London is loosely based on two books by the American author David Wojnarowicz, and director Steve McLean made this movie to follow up his 1994 movie Postcards from America. Dickinson stars as a teenager named Jim, who decides to leave his hometown in search of greener pastures in London. He wants to escape the mundane and pursue a life of culture and high art, but when he arrives in London, he gets robbed. After being sent to a gay bar by a stranger, Jim ends up becoming involved with sex work and prostitution, but a newly discovered condition he has will get in the way.

4/6 Where the Crawdads Sing

Boy looks at girl on beach
Columbia Pictures

Adapted from the novel by Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing is inspired by the natural beauty and mystery of the American South’s landscape. An orphan girl named Kya lives in the marshes of a rural North Carolina town in the 70s, but when a boy she was dating (Dickinson) ends up dead in the marsh, the locals begin to suspect her immediately. The movie moves backward to show her past and how she ended up falling in love with a boy who leaves town for better opportunities, thus placing her in a new relationship with Dickinson’s character after the fact. Did she murder him, or is she becoming a victim of rumors and suspicion?

3/6 The Souvenir Part II

The sequel to The Souvenir, The Souvenir Part II takes place soon after the events of the first movie. Julie, shocked over Anthony’s overdose and death, is having some suspicions as her period hasn’t arrived yet. Despite this, she returns to film school and learns to throw herself back into work and the routines of everyday life. She continues to seek out the people in Anthony’s life during the process of healing and grieving and struggles with the content of the film she needs to make for school. The Souvenir Part II is an emotional, but rewarding journey.

2/6 See How They Run

DJ Films

Tom George’s See How They Run was released in 2021, almost 60 years after the events it depicts in the movie. In London, in 1953, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap reached 100 performances. An American director has been signed on to direct the film adaptation of the smash hit play, but his behavior towards the woman lead potentially ends up getting him killed backstage. Everyone in the vicinity has now become a suspect in the eyes of the police and law, and an investigation is underway to find out who the real murderer is.

1/6 Triangle of Sadness

Men smile for camera
Neon

One of the best films of 2022, Triangle of Sadness won the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival and launched the careers of several of its stars. A biting satire and black comedy, Dickinson and the late Charlbi Dean portray an unhappy couple working in the fashion industry. After they are invited onto a luxury yacht for free due to Dean’s character’s following as an influencer, things quickly begin to spiral after the ship is bombed, and the power dynamics between the wealthy patrons and some of the workers, who come from developing countries, switch.
